We had the pleasure of staying in the Alive Sky Lodge Bed & Breakfast this week, just outside of Rosetown, that has converted round grain bins into incredible little cabins. The location is classic Saskatchewan with amazing wide prairie skies surrounded by open and welcoming wheat fields that my kids couldn’t resist running through like wildlings (pictured above at sunset).

BoHo 2-storey Bin comes with animal friends

We stayed in the BoHo Bin, which was exactly as promised: colourful, eclectic, bohemian furnishings and wallpaper that had you gazing about in a circle upon arriving just to take it all in. All the furniture was clever original pieces and deeply inviting. My favourite was the black suede couch with an assortment of colourful pillows that was as comfortable as it looks. The BoHo Bin was just glamorous enough that I almost regretted bringing my 3 wildling goblins to stay and fussed quite a bit about muddy shoes and snacks on the couch. Which in turn, was a fair concern, as we managed to spill chocolate milk on the nice white sheets at some point in the night and needed a bedding change the next day. I was horrified, but the staff were lovely and accommodating with the disaster, and had it all tidied good as new by the time we came back with supplies in the afternoon.

Three wild goblins share delicious charcuterie whilst mother watches with anxiety over the furnishings.

And I haven’t even mentioned breakfast yet. Wow. Possibly the most incredible thing we had in the Bin. Just look at this warm, buttery goodness. Yes, it was as tasty as it looks. The charcuterie board shown above that we shared the next day was a close second. We highly recommend trying it. And we are charcuterie snobs, so you know it’s good.

Amazing breakfast of berry-and-egg-and-almond-baked goodness.

Before arriving I wondered if we might head to Rosetown to wander during our stay but quickly realized we could easily spend our full two days exploring the many mini playgrounds and meeting all the animals. We got to feed chickens, gather eggs, chase bunnies, snuggle cats, pet goats and dogs, and be chased by a gander while being observed by a goose (both of whom were safety fenced). The kids conquered hammocks and a private hot tub, climbed trees and wandered into sunsets. It was truly a marvelous time.

For those that do want to do some exploring elsewhere, we discovered a lovely park just outside of the newly renovated outdoor pool in Rosetown, when we stopped in for supplies. The children could have spent another hour in the park if I let them and made me promise to bring them back to the pool. Which I did promise to … some day … and honestly with this lovely stay, we just might be back soon.

5/5 stars for the Bincredible stay at Alive Sky Lodge. Definitely worth the adventure if you’re in or coming through Saskatchewan.
